As I'm watching a movie called "Arrival" about how to communicate with an alien race when they arrive on earth, I begin to think of how vital words are to our communication, how vital an alphabet is to an authentic dialogue between intelligence. I understand not all can speak as clearly as others; as a youth, I had a speech impediment. This made for some interesting exchanges. I was saying "that," and she said, "why you calling me fat?" See, I pronounced "th" as "f." I have a friend back in Jersey who had speech therapy for a stutter. Through speech therapy, he learned ventriloquism and now uses words to amuse and entertain. Think of all the words, of all the songs, and how they communicate wondrous love, broken hearts, and all that makes us human.
